Josh and Austin first met in early 2022 at a local Shell station while fueling up their equipment. At the time, Austin had just launched his forestry and wildfire mitigation business, and Josh was busy grading gravel roads after purchasing a road grader from Bob’s Blade.
They struck up a conversation, exchanged contact information, and quickly realized they could work well together. Over the next year, their collaboration grew from small projects to larger, more complex jobs. By the end of 2022, they decided to formalize their partnership and build a strong, reliable team.
Austin took the lead on marketing, business development, estimating, and recruiting, while Josh focused on field operations, managing crews, and ensuring every project met a 5-star standard. This partnership laid the foundation for Wildfire Mitigation Pros Land Services.
In 2023, Josh’s brother Josiah joined the team to oversee sales, project management, and estimating, further strengthening the company’s operational capabilities.
Today, Wildfire Mitigation operates a wide range of specialized forestry equipment, including skid steers, masticators, log grapple excavators, and chippers, allowing the team to tackle everything from land clearing to wildfire mitigation across the Rocky Mountains.
A major milestone came in 2023 when the company secured a federal land clearing project inside Rocky Mountain National Park, clearing a 20-acre site for employee housing. This project helped expand the forestry team and refine field operations, setting a new standard for the company’s wildfire mitigation work.
By 2024, the team had launched an excavation and road grading division to meet increasing demand for driveway and culvert repairs, septic installation and repair, and sewer services. By 2025, Wildfire Mitigation had grown to two dedicated field crews and a back-office staff of three, ensuring every project receives 5-star service.

On weekends, Austin enjoys skiing and snowmobiling in the winter or exploring remote ridges in the summer, often accompanied by his dog and dreaming of cooler temperatures. His fiancée also likes to trick him on hikes, claiming it will be a "short day."
Josh oversees our field operations. His skillful machinery operation and strong crew leadership ensure every project is completed with care and efficiency. In his free time, Josh enjoys snowmobiling in the winter after his plow routes and spending time with his wife, Amber.
The third Minnesotan to join the team, Chase brings strong mechanical skills and the ability to operate any machine efficiently. When he’s not working in the forest with Wildfire Mitigation, he travels the state fishing and creating videos for his YouTube channel.
"Buckey" loves running a chainsaw nearly as much as he enjoys carving through fresh powder on his snowmobile in the winter. A skilled arborist and timber feller, Buckey brings the expertise, energy, and leadership needed to handle large wildfire mitigation projects as well as residential tree removal jobs.
